In all load-bearing structures and structures important to safety, only fasteners, screws and nails manufactured from stainless steel should be used.
Hot galvanised fasteners, screws and nails, as well as “patio screws” may be used in other structures. It must be taken into account, however, that the service life of hot galvanised metal may be shorter than that of the impregnated wood.
Compliant with construction companies' safety instructions
It is of utmost importance that all the fasteners, screws and nails used are manufactured from the same material.
Galvanised and stainless steel products may not touch each other.
The coating of hot galvanised products must be min. G185 in accordance with ASTM A123 and A153 (the layer of zinc must be at least 90 micrometres thick).
Using products with a thinner layer of zinc should be avoided.
